Today I thought that I would post some pics from one of our favorite places to go for some great waterfowl shots, and there’s always some turtles out sunning too. WC Johnson Park in Collierville, TN.
In just one afternoon, we were able to get three different birds: The Great Blue Heron, the Green Heron, and the Great White Egret. Monica and I like to ask each other, “Which one is your favorite?” Answer: Who knows! They are all great and were fun taking them.
If I had to pick, I’d say it is the Great Blue Heron in flight. What a majestic bird. It amazes me to see something so big, yet so graceful in flight. Not to mention his hunting skill, which would put the best spear fisherman to shame any day. I had to set my camera to continuous high to get a good shot, and try to move the camera the same speed that he was flying but it was well worth the effort. Poetry in motion is all I can say about this flyer.
The Green Heron looks rather angry – I’d hate to be a minnow is his sights. We were able to get a lot of pictures of this guy, and got to watch him stealthily prowl in the shallows and eat a couple of minnows as well.
One of Monica’s favorites is the Great White Egret. She snapped this one hoping to get a reflection in the calm water, and boy did she ever!
And what would be a day to WC Johnson Park without getting to snap a few pictures of the sunning turtles. You would think this is the only log sticking up out of the water in the whole area. Even the little guy is trying to get a spot, although he seems to be content climbing on the back of one of the others at the moment.
Lastly, just a quick picture of some flowers. To be honest, I don’t know what they are, if you do please let me know. But it reminds me of someone’s wise words: “Take time to smell the roses.” I do know that these are not roses, but a rose by any other name is still a rose.
So leave me comment, ask some questions, or get some pictures. Until next time, Enjoy our Wonderful World!
OMG, so much better too… professional looking. Way to go.
