As promised yesterday, here are the other backyard birds that I shot from the laundry room window. From top to bottom: the House Finch, Goldfinch (as well as the featured photo at the very top), and the last two are of a White Crowned Sparrow.
I really don’t know where to start, other than saying all of these birds were absolutely beautiful. Their bold colors contrasting the bare limbs, dead leaves, and dormant winter colors, were simply breathtaking as I look again at these captured moments in time.
If I had to pick a favorite, which is incredibly difficult, I guess for me it would be the very last picture of the White Crowned Sparrow. It is a very common bird, but the shot taken does a great job in highlighting the birds crown markings and the foliage all around.
My typical Nikon setup is the D7200 and the Nikkor 200-500mm. This match-up seems to be a perfect pairing. The ease of use and the dependability to “get the shot” are always spot on. Normally I shoot in either Manual or Shutter mode. This enables me to control the shutter speed for the rapid movements of the birds, but making sure the exposure is correct as well.
